Women of CEC on the Move in Advent 2022

Advent Quiet Day

Daughters of the King from Christ Church and Holy Trinity hosted an Advent Quiet Day for women on Saturday, December 3, 2022. The event entitled “The Irrational Season” drew 32 women from seven churches in the S.E. Deanery in the Diocese of Central Florida. Designed as a time apart from the frenetic activity of the holiday season, those attending were invited to quiet their minds and hearts in order to engage the themes of Advent.

Beginning with a Service of Holy Eucharist, the day featured two meditations. Mother Cynthia Brust  spoke about engaging Advent which can seem like an “irrational” and “paradoxical” season. Elsie Amos from Holy Trinity introduced Walking the Labyrinth as a spiritual discipline for Advent. Each meditation was followed by a period of silent reflection and meditation, and the day ended with a light lunch and fellowship.

“After Annunciation”

By Madeleine L’Engle

This is the irrational season

when love blooms bright and wild.

Had Mary been filled with reason

there’d have been no room for the child.

Socks for Vets

Once again this year, the Women’s Bible Study sponsored a special outreach project to benefit homeless veterans in our city. Terri O’Hara led the effort, and the Bible study group invited the rest of the congregation to participate. On Wednesday, December 7, the Women’s Bible study assembled over 80 gift bags of socks, candy, Christmas cards, personal items, and prayer cards. What a joyful day!
